Bolshoi Theater

From its royal roots to its modern transformation, the Bolshoi Theater has been a staple of Moscow art and culture for centuries. Its name literally means “Grand Theater,” and on October 2, 2011, theater enthusiasts from around the globe will get to experience the reinvigorated glory of Moscow’s best theater.

Since 2005 the main theater has been closed for renovations. This $730 million dollar project has focused on restoring the original acoustics to the main stage, a feature that will thoroughly immerse patrons in each theatrical experience. Ruslan and Lyudmila will be the lucky inaugural performance on this hallowed stage, a fitting tale of a princess rescued and returned to happiness. Tickets are going fast to see this once-in-a-lifetime first production at the new and improved Bolshoi Theater. If you can’t wait until October to see a show at the Bolshoi, performances are still being held in its two smaller theaters.
