Russian Federation is farther north than the USA. RF is also larger and wide differences in its weather. Here a link to the Wikipedia page on Moscow. It has the annual weather information. You can compare it to the summary for where you live.

What about the Caucasus? I would assume it would much warmer than the rest of the country both in summer and winter...

I wish I could answer, but this is one of the few places in Russia where I have never been. I would think that you must be right that it is warmer. They have palm trees there on the coast, so it must be pretty warm.

Interestingly, Sochi, the site of 2014 Winter Olympics, is the most southernmost city ever to host the winter games.

European Russia doesn't really have summer, compared to New York. Let's face it, 70 degrees is kinda cold for this time of the year. Southern Siberia and Far East turned out much warmer, upper 80s, lower 90s. I could compare traveling on Transsiberian in early August.

Actually, summers in majority of Russia are fairly hot. Especially in Caucasus region. I'd say it'll be in 90-100 F in the summer. I think the big difference between Russia and US is that in Russia it gets hot much later.

Russian temperature is quite colder as compared to USA. Do you have any plan to visit this in near future?

Rather unpredictable, it can be rather hot, but it can also be pretty cold, prepare for anything. Typically there is a big temperature difference between early morning/night and the day, also be prepared for the possibility of rain.

Wink Weather comparison

There are extremes in both countries. Minnesota can go at least 40 below (F) or more and Texas at least 128 above (F). The charts I see of Russia also have extremes. I believe the citizens of both countries are adaptable enough to live in either place quite comfortably.
