Default Shopping in Moscow

Hi everybody! We just got our Russian visas and are looking forward to be in Russia next week. I am a fan of all kinds of local souvenirs, got many of them from all corners of the world. I checked the situation in Moscow online and have not found anything worth looking except those trashy web-sites selling matrioshkas and post-soviet rubbish. Any suggestions?

Hi! When I was in Moscow a few weeks ago I found a very nice online shop Kawaii Factory. It is in Russian only, but you can ask somebody to translate it for you. Or you can call them at +7 (495) 629 51 31 (their staff speaks very good English) and visit their show-room, 5 minutes walk from the Red Square. They sell very nice bags designed by young Russian artists. I even found few bags with matrioshkas there, very cute ones, take a look here: http://www.kawaiifactory.ru/cat.php?cat=25 If you go there, say hi from Maja!

Default Shopping in Moscow

I was taken to a shop by a friend and frankly did not expect much. A Russian fashion designer? She was right to bring me there; it was worth the time and the money spent. The brand is far ahead of what you see in the streets of Moscow, so probably not very representative. No hard-core over-the top cheap-looking colours and cut. Sexy dresses to die for: futuristic fabulous prints imitating golden and silver quicksilver effects, minimalist complex cut, fantastic fabrics and furs. The store design is really impressive. These guys know about modern architecture. The location of the shop is also worth mentioning - the so-called meatpacking district of Moscow, named after the one in NYC due to a great choice of restaurant, clubs and bars around it. From the shop you can stroll down to Novodevichi monastery, which is a must see in Moscow.

You should check out Izmailovskiy Rynok (Izmailovskiy market), they have tons of cool local stuff. It's located on Partizanskaya metro station. I'm pretty sure that they usually don't list the price, so you'll have to bargain with them. Also further you go from entrance cheaper it usually gets. And if you have Russian friends, it'll be helpful to ask them to go with you, because most likely they'll be able to bargain for a better price there.

There is really a lot of choice there and it's definitely cheaper than other touristy places. I usually shop there myself.

The GUM department store in Moscow, Russia, is a historical building that served many purposes before becoming the centre of modern fashion and lifestyle accessories. Its design and interior are breathtaking and can be described as a work of art. But after visitors have gotten over the sheer magnificence of the building, their attention is quickly drawn to the shops and stores that await them in this three storey shopping paradise.

Hi
Top 5 things to do in Moscow ...

1. Visit the Red Square and the Kremlin rooms

2. The modern art collection at Pushkin museum and a visit to the Tretiakovskaja gallery.

3. Try the most luxurious thermal spot in Moscow: Sandunovsky. The most ancient one, since it opened in 1802. You can get in for 100$ and is attended by the Muskovite intelligentsia.

4. Dine at the most famous restaurant in Moscow, the Pushkin. Try the typical czarist recipes.

5. Enjoy some shopping at Gum and Tzumm shopping centers. Immerse yourself in the highly renowned fashion shops.

Dont miss these 5 things and enjoy the trip ...

This is a good list, but I think missed couple things here:

Arbat Street, Tverskaya st., Bolshoi theater, China Town, St Basil's, Cathedral of Christ the Savior, VDNH, The Memorial Park, Moscow Subway.
