Lviv and Kiev Extension

Day 1: Lviv

Welcome to Lviv, one of the main cultural centers in Ukraine. The city by the border, it was ruled by many different empires and independent republics over the course of its seven centuries. Today it offers a collision of cultures that complement each other with their uniqueness and diversity.

We will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in the city center.

Day 2: Lviv

Today you will have a bus tour around Lviv.
9:00 - 13:00 - Tour of Lviv, including the High Castle and Apteka Museum.
13:00 - 14:00 - Lunch at the local restaurant, included in your tour price.
14:00 - 17:00 - Tour of a historical museum or Skansen Shevchkivsky, your choice

Day 3: Lviv

This day is free for you to explore the city on your own.

Did you know that "Ukraine" in Russian means "border"? For the Russian empire, Ukraine was an important political point that offered easy access to the Black Sea and Europe. Explore one of the most significant cities in this strategic country.

Day 4: Lviv / Kiev

Your driver will be waiting for you in the hotel lobby to take you to the airport.

Historians call Kiev "the Cradle of the Russian Civilization." The kingdom of Kievan Russ, from which Russia, the Ukraine, and Belarus descended, was established between the 9th and 11th centuries and was one of the most advanced principalities in Europe. The Mongols who ransacked it were particularly keen on destroying Kiev, so much so that they raided it every few years to ensure that it never recovered its power and influence. It was in the shadow of this titanic struggle that the small principality of Moscow began gaining the power that eventually fended off the Mongols.

Day 5: Kiev

Today is a full-day tour of Kiev. You will start with a bus tour of the city.
9:00 - 12:30 - A panoramic city tour with a visit to the St. Sophia Cathedral and Mikhailovsky Cathedral.
13:00 - 14:00 - Lunch at a local restaurant, included in the price of your tour.
14:00- 17:00 - Visit to the Kiev-Pecherskaya Lavra Monastery, the Museum of Historical Treasures and Jewelry, and the Museum of Microminiatures
17:00 - 18:00 - Visit to Lypki, the historical part of town.

Day 6: Kiev

This day is reserved for you to explore Kiev on your own.

The Ukraine has always been a rural society. Today you can visit the outskirts of Kiev, a place called Pirogovo. It is a recreation of a 17th century Ukrainian village. This trip will be particularly interesting if your ancestors were from Eastern Europe -- odds are they were from this type of village somewhere between Berlin and Moscow.

Day 7: Departure

Today is the last day of your journey. Your driver will be waiting for you in the hotel lobby to take you to the airport.
