I'll admit it - I am not an easy client. I travel on my own, but can not afford solo private tours. So, as I have done in experiencing India, China, Japan and other places, I structure a "custom" small group tour coupled with plenty of time on my own. This has meant, in this instance, requesting my own hotels. as endorsed by reviewers on TripAdvisor, a day instead of a night train [ I want to see the Russian country side which is hard to do traveling in the dark!], time on my own, beds without footboards [I am six foot two], a train to Helsinki, and other "custom" requests.
