Highlights

Kamchatka is one of the most pristine destinations in the world. Untouched by civilization, it sees only a handful of visitors every year. This is one of our most unique tours, showing you Kamchatka’s volcanoes, geysers, and remote mountain views.  You will spend most of your time hiking, trekking, horseback riding, and rafting in the stunning landscape.

Kamchatka's weather is constantly changing. It can be glorious one day and rainy the next, causing some helicopter tours to be delayed or cancelled. The helicopter excursion to the Valley of the Geysers does not operate during May and June. September and October see a good deal of snow, preventing some itineraries that operate during the summer from operating during this time.

Logistical details

Your driver will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. Your first day will be for resting in preparation of the journey ahead. Day two, you will board a truck for the ride to the wondrous Mutnovsky and Gorely volcanoes. Upon returning you will have the option of staying in your hotel and exploring Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, on your own, or taking an excursion to the famous Valley of the Geysers. On the last two days you will enjoy the Avacha Volcano.

Important Notes

This itinerary takes you to one of the most remote parts of the world. Although services have improved in the last few years, we will encounter delays, bureaucracy, bad road conditions, uneven surfaces, and the unavailability of public bathrooms. Please note that weather circumstances may change each day's activities. Good physical condition will be beneficial for this journey.

This program requires flexibility and good humor. Every effort will be made to follow the itinerary, but there is always the possibility of changes.

Weather

The summer is usually warm and sunny in Kamchatka. However, the weather in Kamchatka is extremely changeable and runs from storms to heavy rain to fog or glorious weather. We have no control over weather patterns and recommend being prepared for all types of weather

Please wear layered clothing, woolen or silk underwear, raingear, and excellent hiking boots or shoes.

Day 1	Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Today you will arrive in Kamchatka, home to the world's most glorious volcanoes. It holds more than 12% of the earth’s volcanoes in its small 270,000 square kilometers. Your driver will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel where you can explore the city on your own, but we recommend resting before the start of you amazing journey around Kamchatka.
Day 2	Viluchinsky Volcano By truck you will make the treacherous journey to the Veluchinsky Volcano. Situated to the south-west of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski, this volcano is extinct. In the winter it is popular for alpine skiing and snowboarding as well as its hot springs.
Day 3	Ascent Mutnovsky Today you will visit the Mutnovsky Volcano, one of the largest in south Kamchatka. The most astonishing thing that differentiates this from others is the path that ventures into the break of the volcano itself. The walk is nearly 7 km from the campsite and rises 600 m into the main caldera, giving you a one-of-a-kind view into the heart of a fiery wonder. On the way you will pass the Skalisty and Dyugorby hills, which are actually ancient volcanoes.
Day 4	Gorely Volcano Gorely Volcano awaits you today. From the lake flats you will walk up the volcano, climbing 750 m over a mixture of rough grassy tundra and bare strips of basaltic lava. Higher up, gently graded snowfields provide easier access to the peak. The first crater contains a cold lake about 100 m deep, its surface supporting ice from a small glacier on its internal slope. You will have a picnic lunch on the edge of the crater, feasting while you admire the stunning beauty of the earth’s most powerful natural wonder.
Day 5	Free day in Petropavlosvk-Kamchatsky or the Valley of Geysers Today is free for you to rest after so many exciting volcano excursions. You can enjoy the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on your own or explore one of Kamchatka’s most glorious sites, the Valley of Geysers.
Day 6	Avacha Base Camp The Avachinsky Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, tenderly called “domestic” by the residents of Kamchatka. A snow-white cone with billowing fumaroles, the Avachinsky is a picture-perfect volcano. While ascending it, you will come to appreciate the meaning of “walking in the clouds.”
Day 7	Avacha Climb To the south stand the towns of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski and Elizovo, and the Gorely and Mutnovsky volcanoes. To the north is the valley of the River Nalychevo. The Avacha climb will leave you breathless with awe as you ascend through layers of dream-like volcanic mist.
Day 8	Departure This is the final day of your tour. Your driver will take you to the airport. You will be leaving home with a lifetime of memories and unforgettable experiences!
