"Nice hotel in central location" - Jan 25,
2008
Traveler from Oslo, Norway
Stayed here for 5 days in the beginning of the year. Nice hotel in
good location. Hotel is rather new but does not feel very modern,
its a little Russian style, dark furnishings that feel a little
gloomy.. Nice bathroom with heated floors. Room was large and
really no big complaints. I made several complaints about the
televison. It was locked to a very low volume level and It was
almost difficult to hear the tv when the heater was blowing. They
refused to do anything about it and claimed it was hotel policy. I
would say that this was the biggest dissappointment during our
stay, because, the attitude was more or less, if you don't like it,
move to another hotel. It should be possible hear the television
for someone with good hearing. For Older people with impaired
hearing it should be impossible. Breaksfast was ok with good
selection. We had problems getting the internet to work but on Our
last day they fixed it. Pool was only free during the mornig hours
so we did not use it.
"Good Location, would stay again" Jan 23, 2008
Traveler from Sydney
Hotel was in an excellent location for the price. Two to three
blocks from hermitage, Neva river, closer to Nevsky prospekt. Room
was larger than expected at the back of the hotel on the seventh
floor. I can see how people might think the front desk was rude or
cold but they did all that was asked, I think it is just a lost in
translation issue. At check-in the girl was telling me everything
she could about the place and blurted out at the end... I don't
know what else to tell you! and hurried away. Made me laugh but she
was trying...Didn't have breakfast here so can't comment on food at
hotel but there were a few restaurants and cafes close by for
eating. One thing I found particularly useful was the free wireless
broadband in the foyer. An unexpected bonus for me and my laptop.
All in all I would recommend this hotel and stay here again.
"Petro Palace is perfect!!" - Dec 27, 2007
Traveler from Ohio
Petro Palace was an ideal place to stay - we were a group of four
female Americans. The location cannot be beat, it is a fairly quiet
street, only a couple of blocks from Nevsky Prospect (main street),
1/2 block from St. Isaacs, and the American Express office across
the street. There are countless restaurants and sites within
walking distance - in fact we only took the Metro twice in 7 days!
Our room was a corner room with huge windows on a very quiet floor.
All of the bathrooms are renovated, so the shower was amazing, and
all ofteh horror stories that "nothing works in Russia" were proven
wrong by Petro Palace. There is even a small grocery store adjacent
to it to purchase bottled water, snacks, vodka, etc. The restaurant
on site is pretty good, but we ate better for less money at other
places. It is not opulent, so if you like luxury then book the
Grand Hotel. If you are practical, but want comfortable, clean
rooms, and good service, then look no further - you will enjoy this
hotel!! | |
