Day 2
Moscow City Tour and Kremlin
Today, you will go on one of the most captivating tours in the world. You will visit the famous Red Square and tour the State Armory Museum, the Kremlin, and the World War II Memorial in the Vorobyevi Hills Park. You will also have the opportunity to see the Mansion of Riabusginsky, designed in the Art Nouveau style, and the spectacular Cathedral of Christ the Savior, which was destroyed by the communists and restored only a few years ago. This tour will last about eight hours.
The Kremlin is the most recognizable symbol of Moscow. This ancient citadel was constructed in 1147 to defend the city from the Mongols and the Lithuanians. Moscow has since grown beyond the original walls, but the Kremlin has remained a representation of political power in Russia.
The State Armory is the oldest museum in Russia. One of the most valuable pieces in the museum is the famous Monomachus cap, the crown of the Russian tsars. You will see it as well as royal carriages, clothing, service and ceremonial armors, weapons, and dishware.
The Riabushinsky Mansion (Maksim Gorky's museum) is one of the most famous Art Nouveau structures in Moscow. All of the rooms gradually wind upwards around the main staircase, which has elegant curved rails.
In the evening we recommend visiting the St. Basil's Cathedral, one of the most famous works of architecture in Moscow. This colorful cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Basil the Blessed, was built between 1555 and 1561.
Optional Evening Activity: Bolshoi Theater, Ballet, or Opera performance, $125 - $180 per person
Day 3
Tretyakov Gallery and Moscow Subway
This day is reserved for a visit to the Tretyakov Picture Gallery and the Moscow Subway. The Tretyakov Picture Gallery is Moscow's most famous collection of art and one of the world's top art galleries. The gallery started as the private collection of a wealthy Moscow merchant, Tretyakov, who lived in the 19th century and donated his collection to the city.
Moscow's metro stations are called the "underground" palaces of Moscow. Their interiors demonstrate royal splendor with magnificent, festive halls adorned by sculptures, mosaics, paintings, stained glass panels, and murals.
In the evening you will board a first-class overnight train to Russia's second capital, St. Petersburg. Your driver will take you to the train station.
Optional Tour: The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts for $35 per person (combined with today's tour)
The Pushkin Museum is the largest museum of European art in Moscow, located on Volkhonka street, just opposite the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. It was founded by professor Ivan Tsvetaev who persuaded the millionaire and philanthropist Yuriy Nechaev-Maltsov and the fashionable architect Roman Klein of the urgent need to give Moscow a fine arts museum.

Day 4
St. Petersburg City Tour
Welcome to St. Petersburg, Russia’s most beautiful city! St. Petersburg was the capital of Russia until the Revolution of 1917, but remains Russia's most dynamic and amazing city. With the canals of Venice, the palaces of Paris, and the churches of Rome, you will not be disappointed by its beauty and culture.
You will have the best guides in St. Petersburg to make the most of your visit to one of the top ten travel destinations in the world. They will take you on a panoramic tour of the city with stops at the Peter and Paul Fortress, St. Isaac's Cathedral, and the state Russian Museum. The Russian Museum was the first state museum of Russian fine art in the country. It was established in 1895under the decree of the Emperor Nicholas II and contains the world's largest collection of works by Russian painters, sculptors, graphic artists, designers, and craftsmen. The museum collection includes works by Karl Briullov, Ivan Aivazovsky, Ilya Repin, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, Kasimir Malevich, Wassily Kandinsky, Pavel Filonov, and others.
The Peter and Paul Fortress was designed to defend the city from naval attacks, but was used as a political prison for dissidents of the tsarist regime and as a museum during the soviet era. The fortress now stands as the tomb for the Russian imperial family.
St Isaac's Cathedral is one of the most impressive cathedrals in Europe. Because of its rich decorations, gigantic golden cupolas, and sprawling observation deck, it is one of the most popular tourist sites in St. Petersburg.
Day 5
Hermitage
The Hermitage Museum is to St. Petersburg what the Kremlin is to Moscow. Located in the gorgeous Winter Palace, it sits in the very heart of the city, a palace so beautiful that not even the Bolsheviks could destroy it during their takeover in 1917. They say that if you were to spend three minutes by each exhibit in the Hermitage it would take you three years to see everything. With an experienced guide leading you through the sea of heart-stopping exhibits, you will see the best of St. Petersburg’s art in four hours.
In the afternoon, we recommend visiting the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, built to commemorate one of Russia's greatest emperors. Alexander II is most famous for liberating the Russian serfs two years before the abolition of slavery in the U.S. After he was assassinated, the Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood was erected on the very spot where he was killed.
Optional Tour: A trip to Pushkin with a tour of Catherine's Palace and the Amber room. Please ask your Travel Specialist for details.
Optional Evening Activity: Mariinsky Theater, Ballet, or Opera Performance, $120 - $180 per person
Day 6

Today you will venture to the outskirts of St. Petersburg to visit Peterhof Palace, the summer residence of Russia’s royalty. Stroll in the vast Lower Park with 176 glorious fountains of various forms and styles, numerous gilded statues of ancient gods and heroes, including the famous Samson Fountain. Visit magnificent, beige and white Grand Summer Palace, lavishly decorated with the two white pavilions with gilded cupolas. While walking through its lavish parks and elegant rooms, be careful not to forget that you haven’t been transported to Versailles.
Tip: It takes about one hour to get to Peterhof by car. A boat ride is an alternative option that is available during the summer (price $35 per traveler).
In the evening you can take a boat ride along the beautiful rivers and canals of St. Petersburg or visit art galleries such as the "Loft Project" or the Maria Gisich Art Gallery with works by young Russian artists.
