Tours to Russia
Understanding different types of tours to Russia
There are different modes of travel when it comes to Russia. You can go on a land tour, by yourself or in a group, large or small, or you can embark on a river ship or the Trans-Siberian train and cross the country from north to south or from West to East. Which way of traveling works best for you depends on many things, but most of all on how much time you have for your trip, on your budget and wheather you like to travel on your own or in a group. On this page, we will help you to understand advantages of different types of tours to Russia.
Trip duration
Private tours usually last from few days to few weeks, the most popular being a seven day trip to Moscow and Saint Petersburg (3 days in Moscow + 4 days in Saint Petersburg). From our experience this is the perfect number of days to see the most interesting sights in Russia's two capitals.
Small group tours also last for 7-11 days depending on how many cities you would like to see. River cruises take from 10 to 15 days on average, so you will need two good weeks of time for your trip. Trans-Siberian tours last from 12 days (7 days in the train + few days in Moscow, Irkutsk, Vladivostok or Ulan-Bator and Beijing.
Budget
Private tours cost around $200 per day. River cruises range from $130 to $400 per day depending on the ship and cabin class. Trans-Siberian tours start from about $250 per day. These prices exclud airfaires, but you can often take advantage of our free flight offers.

When it comes to private tours, it is just you, a guide, and your pace. Want to spend an extra few minutes lingering over the captivating artwork of the Hermitage? Need to hear the full story of the former residents of the Kremlin, not the tour-shortened version? Then private tours are for you! And this is why private programs cost more than group tours. However, if you are looking for a primer on Russia, small group tours are a great option.
