Why Visit Kazbegi

Kazbegi, currently known as Stepantsminda, is a town in northeastern Georgia, situated by the Terek River. Located amid mountains, it is a great place for those who enjoy outdoor activities, picturesque landscapes, and myths or legends. Locals have numerous ones, especially when it comes to the Kazbegi Mountain. Being among the country's highest ones, it is a popular location for hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing. It is also the location of the imposing Dariali Gorge situated on the border between Russia and Georgia.

Kazbegi Mountains and Other Attractions

One of the main points of interest during Kazbegi sightseeing is the renowned Gergeti Trinity Church. Situated on a mountain peak, the church was formerly used as a safekeeping of multiple relicts, as the location was not that easy to reach. Nowadays, it's worth climbing the mountain not only for the church itself but also for the views as well, as it stands to overlook the entire Kazbegi and the breathtaking scenery around.

Some other amazing sites include the Gveleti Waterfall and the Devdoraki Glacier. And as for indoor activities, make sure to visit the Stepantsminda Historical Museum to know more about the Georgian writer Alexander Kazbegi. What should also be part of your Kazbegi travel is sampling the local food, thus don't miss the chance to taste the Georgian kharcho soup or a traditional kebab.

Kazbegi is the best place to explore unseen Georgia, imposing Caucasus mountains, breathtaking nature, and untouched local culture. It is something words can't describe. You have to witness it yourself on your tour to Russia and beyond.
