Our Russian Highlights Tour was terrific! I thought the attractions were well planned, the tour guides were excellent - patient, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and interesting are a few adjectives that easily come to mind.
The pace of the tours was perfect, not too fast or slow. Saint Petersburg was my favorite, but also enjoyed Moscow very much. I liked the balance between the organized tours and free time. We love to explore on our own and had ample opportunity to do so.
Hotels were very good. What a treat to stay in the Hotel Ukraina and I liked the location of the Mariott in St. Petersburg, just a block from the Metro made it very easy to get around. And what a happy surprise it was when we found ourselves with an upgraded accommodation on the train back to Moscow on the 14th. Thank you, we appreciated it very much.
The only suggestion I have for improvement: the transfer from the rail station to the hotel in St. Petersburg caused some anxiety for me because our luggage was left unattended in the station while the bags were moved to the bus, which was a few blocks away. The transfer took about an hour. I think a better approach would be to offer to help move luggage, but allow your clients to take their bags to the bus themselves. Alternatively, make sure a baggage cart is available so the transfer of luggage to the bus is accomplished more expeditiously. One other suggestion: further emphasize the fact that there is significant walking on the tour. This was clearly noted one the Travel All Russia site, but I think it was missed by some on the tour who had a hard time keeping up.
When our friends see our photos, I expect they may have an interest in touring Moscow and Saint Petersburg too. If so, I will be happy to refer them your way. Thank you for helping to make this a very memorable vacation.
