I must admit that I was not sure what to expect when traveling to Russia. It was our son’s choice and not necessarily somewhere I would have chosen. None the less, a family vacation is a family vacation. Well, much to my surprise, we truly had the trip of a lifetime. Moscow was the most pleasant surprise for me. It is probably the cleanest city I have ever visited.
The Treasures of Three Capitals itinerary was perfect and busy, but not too much so as to exhaust the group (though it was more difficult for Bret’s parents). We all learned so very much at each location.
The hotel accommodations were excellent with quality rooms, central locations and high quality breakfasts. One hotel item that could be improved upon was the concierge service. We did not find it helpful at either the Moscow or St. Petersburg hotel. (The hotel in Helsinki was able to assist us on a number of locations.)
Specifically, we were looking for restaurants for lunch and dinner. Perhaps you could provide specific suggestions for lunch and dinner when not provided in the tour. Alternatively, we would have been willing to pay more for additional included meals (which were truly excellent). Also, while in Moscow we were able to lunch at the Pushkin Cafe (via our guide). I would highly recommend that you consider adding this to the itinerary. What a treat. The only disappointing meals we were served were the 2 farewell dinners in the hotels. Both were sub-par to poor. In Moscow we were served a buffet that had been out for a long time. It was not good at all. All other meals were fabulous.
In addition to the outstanding accommodations, the trip guides at all locations were the very best. We could not have asked for anything more! They were all extremely professional, personable, flexible, and so incredibly knowledgeable. I simply cannot say enough. Though they guide many and will forget us in no time, we will never forget them.
The travel coordination was efficient and we encountered no problems. We experienced no issues with flights or with the train rides. (Thank goodness.) The drivers were all very good.
Thank you very much for coordinating our vacation. We will never forget it! We all highly recommend “Travel Russia”!
