The Golden Ring of Russia is one of the best kept secrets in Russia. It is a group of ancient kingdoms surrounding Moscow in a ring-like fashion (hence the name), which were once powerful kingdoms. They fought again the Mongols paving the way for a relatively small kingdom of Moscow to rise through the ashes and to unite Russian lands.
