Arrival to Saint Petersburg & Departure to Solovki

Welcome to the second Russian capital - breathtaking St. Petersburg! Your driver meets you at the airport or hotel and takes you to the rail station for your train to Solovki. You spend the evening on board a train, rushing through the beautiful Russian countryside.

Arrival to Solovki & Monastery Tour

In the morning, you arrive in the city of Kem. Your driver waits for you at the station and transfers you to a local cafe for breakfast (meal is not included). You have some time to rest and then your driver transfers you to the Rabocheostrovsk pier from where you take a ferry to Solovki. On your way there, you enjoy the jaw-dropping views, and if you are lucky, you can see whales.

After a 2-hour ferry ride, you arrive at the Bolshoy Solovetsky Island. Your driver meets you upon arrival and transfers to your hotel for check-in.

In the early evening, you walk to the tour desk, meet your private local guide, and enjoy a walking tour of the Solovetsky Monastery, an important monument included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. During the tour, you come to grips with both the historical and architectural sides of the monastery and the beautiful island itself. Together with your guide, you explore the central complex of the monastery, the existing temples, and the Solovetsky Fortress.

After the tour, you return to your hotel and have a good rest after a busy day.

  • Note: tour to Solovetsky Islands is available between June 1 and September 15. The program is subject to change due to adverse weather conditions.

Exploring Zayatsky Island & Mount Sekirnaya

In the morning, you have breakfast and walk to the tour desk, where your guide is already waiting for you. After a 45-minute boat trip, you arrive at  Zayatsky Island famous for its labyrinths. They are known as the largest pagan sanctuary dating back to the 2nd-1st millennium BC. Archaeologists still can't say for sure what was the exact purpose of this site. During the tour, you explore the mythical labyrinths, the stone harbor, and the monuments of St. Andrew's Skete. After the tour, you get back to Bolshoy Solovetsky Island for lunch (meal is not included).

After lunch, you get ready for the second tour of the day. This time you travel by bus to one of the highest points of the Big Solovetsky Island, the Sekirnaya Mountain. From the top of it, you take in the unforgettable views over the northern part of the Big Solovetsky Island and the White Sea.

After the tour, you return to the hotel and have the rest of the evening at leisure.

  • Note: Bolshoi Zayatsky Island is declared a reserve zone; a tour there is possible only in a guided group.

Solovki Prison Camp & Departure from Solovki

In the morning, you check out, and walk to the tour desk to meet a private guide, and together you take off on a 2.5-hour tour of the Solovki prison camp. During the tour, you learn about the history of the Solovki prison camp from the moment it was set in 1923, till after its reorganization into the Special Prison, and about the fate of its prisoners. You attend the first in the USSR an exposition dedicated to the history of Solovki Gulag and to political repression in the Soviet Union.

After the tour, your driver takes you to the pier and you depart for Kem. Upon arrival, you are taken to a local cafe for dinner (meal is not included). After dinner, you are taken to the Kem train station where you board a train, departing to St. Petersburg.

Departure from Saint Petersburg

Today your train arrives to unforgettable Saint Petersburg. Your private driver meets you upon arrival and transfers to the airport, hotel or any other destination, depending on your future arrangements.
