Trip to Pushkin & Hermitage Museum

Following breakfast you meet your guide and driver who take you to the outskirts of St. Petersburg to Pushkin (Tsarskoe Selo) to explore the brilliant Catherine's Palace that is a striking example of baroque architecture gifted by Peter the Great to his wife Catherine I. During the tour you enjoy this outstanding palace and gorgeous interiors, including the replica of the world-renowned Amber Room.

Later this day you go to the legendary Hermitage Museum, that houses its unique collection of world art, including the masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, El Greco, Francisco Goya and Thomas Gainsborough, in the halls of the Winter Palace.

They say that if you were to spend three minutes by each of the exhibits in the Hermitage, it would have taken you three years to see the entire exhibition. But don't worry - you have an experienced guide, who will show you the best rooms and halls of the exhibit within several hours.

After the tour you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

After breakfast you check out from the hotel and meet your guide at the hotel lobby and go on an amazing panoramic city tour around the most outstanding attractions of St. Petersburg, featuring the key sights including St. Isaac's Cathedral and Nevsky Prospect.

In the afternoon you are transferred to the train station to board the Golden Eagle train and begin your rail adventure.

Day 4
Crossing the Arctic Circle

Today you spend the whole day on board the train as it crosses the Arctic Circle on your quest to see the Northern Lights. You may learn about the Northern Lights from the guest astronomer.

In the evening you are welcome to celebrate Valentine's Day on board the train with a Gala Caviar Dinner with champagne and wines.

Exploring Kirkenes & Northern Lights

This morning following breakfast you leave the train with an overnight bag on the Russian border station of Nikel and have a 1.5-hour bus transfer across the border of Russia and Norway to your centrally-located hotel in Kirkenes for check-in.

Later today you have a chance to visit the Snow Hotel, have a welcome drink in the Snow Bar and enjoy the ice sculptures and snow paintings by local and international artists on the territory. After a traditional meal including a reindeer hot dog in the Snow Hotel’s warm lodge restaurant, you take an evening bus tour in search of the Northern Lights together with the guest astronomer who will share knowledge and give tips on watching stars.

After the tour you return to your hotel for overnight and have the rest of the day free.

Day 6
King Crab Safari & Husky Dog Farm

In the morning prepare for a unique winter experience as today you're going on a King Crab Safari. The excursion begins with a snowmobile-drawn sleigh across the frozen fjords (warm clothing and a helmet is provided). Your master guide will demonstrate how to catch the magnificent Arctic King Crab through a hole in the ice, the crabs can span two meters and weigh up to 15 kilos. Then you make your way to the nearby Fisherman's Lodge by sleigh, where the crabs you catch are cooked for you so you can enjoy your delicious King Crab meal by the cozy log fire.

In the afternoon you come back to the Snow Hotel to see the resident reindeer and then visit the biggest husky dog farm in eastern Finnmark or return to Kirkenes Village for a walking tour. You then return to your hotel and have the remaining part of the day at leisure.

Today your train arrives in Murmansk, an exceptional town located halfway between Russia's capital city, Moscow, and the North Pole. Set only 120 km north of the arctic circle, it is an Arctic port and the main city of the Kola Peninsula.

While in Murmansk, you have the unique chance to visit the world-famous Nuclear-powered Icebreaker Museum Ship. After the tour you return on board the train to continue your journey.

Touring Petrozavodsk & Kizhi Island

Today your train arrives in Petrozavodsk, a city set on the shores of the second largest lake in Europe, Lake Onega.

During your guided city tour you see the main sights of the capital of the Republic of Karelia, which is one of the major cultural and industrial centers of North-West of Russia.

As a tour highlight, weather-permitting, you take a hovercraft transfer to Kizhi Island, a real miracle of wooden architecture. You get to explore its famous Pogost including the dazzling 22-domed Transfiguration Church built without a single nail, beautiful windmills and ancient Russian wooden houses.

You then return to your train and continue traveling. In the evening you are invited to a farewell dinner.

Exploring Vladimir & Suzdal

Today you disembark the train as you arrive in the historic city of Vladimir founded in 990. The whole city is a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site that boasts incredible architectural wealth. During the tour you see the place where many Russian Tsars were crowned, the Uspensky Cathedral, built between the 12th and 15th centuries.

Your next stop is the pastoral town of Suzdal - one of the most perfectly preserved walled cities in Russia, dating back to 1024. While touring Suzdal you visit the atmospheric St. Euthymius Monastery where you witness an enchanting choral performance by the resident monks.

As a tour highlight, you get to enjoy a traditional Russian winter experience, a horse-drawn sleigh ride.

During the tour of the top Moscow attractions you enjoy a leisurely walk through the beautiful Red Square, take a photo stop near the colorful St. Basil's Cathedral, see the largest Moscow department store GUM and Lenin's tomb.

Then you explore a real Russian miracle and its most famous symbol - the mighty Kremlin.
