Exploring Moscow Highlights & Tour of the Novodevichiy Cemetery

Following breakfast, you enjoy an orientation city tour of Moscow and see the city's rich variety of building styles including classic, modern, empire, eclecticism and Stalin‘s towering skyscrapers.

After lunch in the restaurant located on the top floor of one of Moscow's skyscrapers, you visit the famous Novodevichy Convent, which holds the tombs of Russian authors, musicians, playwrights, and poets, as well as famous actors, political leaders, and scientists. After the tour, you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

This day is dedicated to the exploration of one of the most outstanding Moscow icons - the Kremlin. Following breakfast, you meet your guide at the hotel lobby and go inside the Kremlin walls to visit its famous Armoury Chamber that houses a unique collection of crown jewels, stunning coronation finery, hand-forged armor and weapons, royal carriages and sleighs, and world-famous Fabergé eggs.

After lunch in a local restaurant, you proceed to Moscow's famous Red Square to see its well-recognized landmarks. Enter the iconic St. Basil's Cathedral and visit GUM, Moscow’s largest department store. Then enjoy a walk through the beautiful Zaryadye Park, located nearby. Following breakfast, you check out from your hotel. The first place on your tour agenda today is a visit to the Leo Tolstoy House-Museum. You visit the small and cozy former home-estate once owned by Russia's famous author, Leo Tolstoy, where he lived with his family for almost 20 years.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you enjoy a guided tour to the world-famous treasure trove of the Russian fine art, the Tretyakov Gallery, where you spend several amazing hours viewing the gems of its collection, including the famous masterpieces of Ivan Aivazovsky, Mikhail Vrubel, and Viktor Vasnetsov.

Then you explore one of the most interesting city sites that are located deep beneath the surface - the Moscow Subway. You have a quick subway ride to taste local life and enjoy the splendid Soviet decoration of its stations.

After the tour, you are transferred to the river port to board your luxurious MS Volga Dream and receive a warm welcome with a traditional Bread, Salt & Vodka Ceremony. In the evening you are invited to the Captain's Welcome reception and dinner on board.

After breakfast you arrive in the Northern capital of Russia and disembark your cruise ship. Your guide meets you at the pier and takes you on a sightseeing tour around the most famous St. Petersburg attractions.

During the tour you drive along the bustling Nevsky Prospect abundant in fine shops, cafes and museums, take a walk through the Split of Basil Island, have a photo stop near the gorgeous Church on Spilled Blood, enter the St. Isaac's Cathedral, and see the Peter and Paul Fortress - a burial place of almost all the Russian emperors and empresses from Peter the Great to Nicholas II and his family.

After lunch during which you enjoy the Red Army Choir performance, you have a magnificent boat ride along the rivers and canals of St. Petersburg to see the city from a completely new perspective.

Next on your list is the dazzling Yusupov's Palace, home to St. Petersburg once most wealthy aristocrats. In the basement of the house listen to the story about the enigmatic monk Grigory Rasputin who was assassinated here by Prince Felix Yusupov.

Following breakfast, you meet your guide at the hotel lobby and go to one of the best and largest art museums in the world, the Hermitage Museum, before hours to avoid large crowds. The Hermitage Museum houses its unique collection of world art, including the masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, El Greco, Francisco Goya and Thomas Gainsborough in the halls of the Winter Palace.

They say that if you were to spend three minutes by each of the exhibits in the Hermitage, it would have taken you three years to see the entire exhibition. But don't worry - you have an experienced guide, who will show you the best rooms and halls of the exhibit within several hours. You also get to explore the Gold Room of the Hermitage, displaying the fine collection of gold Scythian artwork and elaborate imperial gifts.

After lunch in a city restaurant, you travel to the outskirts of St. Petersburg to explore the former summer residence of Russian tsars and the gem of palace architecture - Peterhof. During the tour, you take a walk in the beautiful Lower Park, lavishly adorned with 176 fountains of various forms and styles and numerous gilded statues of ancient gods and heroes as well as visit one of the small cottages.

After the tour, you return to Saint Petersburg by a hydrofoil boat and have the rest of the day at leisure.
