Day 1: Arrival in Moscow

Welcome to the brilliant Russian capital - Moscow! Your private driver meets you at the airport holding a sign with your name on it and takes you to your luxurious 5-star hotel located in the very heart of Moscow close to the iconic Kremlin and the legendary Red Square.

The rest of the evening is free, so you can either explore the fantastic center of Moscow on your own or take a good rest before the rich sightseeing program planned for the following day.

Day 2: Moscow City Tour, Kremlin & Armoury Chamber, Tretyakov Gallery

Following breakfast you meet your guide at the hotel lobby and begin this day with an orientation Moscow city tour. You pass the Tverskaya Street, Lubyanka Square, and explore a real Russian miracle and its most famous symbol - the mighty Kremlin. You go on a guided tour of this historical fortress, that includes a visit to its wonderful Armoury Chamber that houses a unique collection of crown jewels, stunning coronation finery, hand-forged armor and weapons, royal carriages and sleighs, and world-famous Fabergé eggs.

Then you stroll across the famous Red Square, visit the largest Moscow department store GUM, make a photo stop at Novodevichy Convent, the most picturesque monastery in Moscow, and if time permits, make a stop at the Christ the Savior Cathedral.

Following lunch in a city restaurant you proceed to the Tretyakov Gallery. During your guided tour of the real treasure trove of the Russian fine art you spend several amazing hours viewing the gems of its collection, including the famous masterpieces of Ivan Aivazovsky, Mikhail Vrubel and Viktor Vasnetsov.

After the tour you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 3: Bolshoi Theater Backstage Tour & Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts

In the morning after breakfast begin the day with a backstage tour of the historic and recently restored Bolshoi Theatre*, one of the world's greatest opera and ballet theaters, and one of Moscow's top visitor attractions.

Then discover one of the most interesting city sites located deep beneath the surface - the Moscow Subway. You have a quick subway ride to taste local life and enjoy the splendid Soviet decoration of its stations.

After lunch in a city restaurant you visit the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, famous for holding one of the largest world art collections in Russia, to see its remarkable exhibition of French Impressionism, which includes works by Corot, Goya, Delacroix, as well as van Gogh, Gauguin, Cézanne, Matisse, and Chagall. At present, the collection comprises over 670,000 paintings, works of sculpture, works of applied art, archaeological artifacts, and etc.

After the tour you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day at leisure.

* Note: The backstage tour to the Bolshoi Theater is available only in May, June and September. This tour will be replaced by a tour to State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia in July and August (early September) due to the Bolshoi Theatre annual leave.

Day 4: Visiting the New Tretyakov Gallery & Moscow Architecture Tour

Following breakfast you check out from your hotel and go to the New Tretyakov Gallery, a branch of the famous gallery of the same name. Together with a specially invited museum curator you see its collection of early XXth century works by world famous Russian avant-garde masters such as Malevich, Kandinsky and Chagall as well as Social Realism artwork.

After lunch in a city restaurant you go on a Moscow Architecture tour during which you get to see the city's rich variety of building styles including classic, modern, empire, eclecticism and Stalin‘s towering skyscrapers.

After the tour you are transferred to the river port to board your luxurious MS Volga Dream and receive a warm welcome with a traditional Bread, Salt & Vodka Ceremony. In the evening you are invited to the Captain's Welcome reception and dinner on board.

Day 5: Tour of Uglich Churches

After a full day of cruising along the picturesque scenery of the Russian countryside you arrive in the small and ancient trading town of Uglich, where a historically significant political turmoil known as the Times of Trouble started.

During your city tour of this renowned Golden Ring town you visit the famous Church of St. Dmitry-on-Blood, built on the site where Ivan the Terrible's son, Dmitry, was murdered in 1591, and the St. John's Church where you enjoy a fascinating concert of choral music.

After the tour you return on board your ship. In the evening you can join a Costumed Russian Tea Ceremony and Russian Cooking Class.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on board.

Day 6: Exploring Yaroslavl Monasteries & Must-Sees

Today you explore one of the oldest Russian cities and the gem of the Volga River - Yaroslavl. During your guided city tour you explore the Spassky Monastery where you see the icon Transfiguration of the Savior, visit the wonderful Church of Elijah the Prophet with incredible mosaic decoration, and participate in a costumed reception at the governor's house.

Then you return on board your cruise ship and enjoy the barbeque organized on the Open Deck.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on board.

Day 7: Visiting the Ferapontov Monastery at Goritsy

This day is dedicated to the exploration of Goritsy - a tiny picturesque settlement near White Lake. Your guided tour includes a visit to the Ferapontov Monastery, a noted UNESCO World Heritage Site with magnificent frescoes by Dionysius, one of Russia‘s most renowned icon painters. He painted the temple ceiling about 10 years before Michelangelo even started on the Sistine Chapel!

After the tour you return on board your cruise ship and enjoy Russian Dinner with Vodka tasting party.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on board.

Day 8: Exploring Kizhi Island

Today you arrive in the stunning Kareliya region, noted for its vast wilderness and beautiful nature. Here you see a real miracle of wooden architecture - the fantastic Kizhi Island. During your walking tour you see its famous Pogost including the dazzling 22-domed Transfiguration Church built without a single nail, beautiful windmills and ancient Russian wooden houses.

After returning to your ship you enjoy the Piano Concert consisting of pieces by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on board.

Day 9: Svirstroy Tour

Today you explore Svirstroy - a small charming village located on the 139-mile-long Svir River. Here you invited into a local resident‘s home where welcoming Svirstroy villagers offer tea with jam and pirozhki (local pies). You get to learn about Russian traditions and lifestyle and see the attractions of Svirstroy.

After tea hop on a bus for a tour of the nearby town to see the monument of the WWII followed by a visit to a local primary school.

You then return to your ship and have a farewell dinner in the evening.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on board.

Day 10: Exploring St. Petersburg Highlights & Visiting the Faberge Museum

After breakfast you arrive in the Northern capital of Russia and disembark your cruise ship. Your guide meets you at the pier and takes you on a sightseeing tour around the most famous St. Petersburg attractions.

You go inside the Peter and Paul Fortress - a burial place of almost all the Russian emperors and empresses from Peter the Great to Nicholas II and his family, and see the bustling Nevsky Prospect abundant in fine shops, cafes and museums.

Following lunch in a city restaurant you enjoy a guided tour to the famous Faberge museum, which houses the world's largest collection of works by Carl Faberge, including 9 Easter eggs commissioned by the Russian royal family.

After the tour you are transferred to your luxurious 5-star hotel located in the city center and have the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 11: Tour of the Catherine's Palace, Trip to Peterhof & Yusupov Palace

Early in the morning after breakfast you meet your guide at the hotel lobby and head for Pushkin (Tsarskoye Selo) to explore the brilliant Catherine's Palace that is a striking example of baroque architecture gifted by Peter the Great to his wife Catherine I. During the tour you walk through the lavish parks and gardens of this outstanding palace and enjoy its gorgeous interiors, including the replica of the world-renowned Amber Room.

You then travel to the outskirts of St. Petersburg to explore the former summer residence of Russian tsars and the gem of palace architecture - Peterhof. Here you take a walk in the beautiful Lower Park, lavishly adorned with 176 fountains of various forms and styles and numerous gilded statues of ancient gods and heroes.

Return back to St. Petersburg and have lunch in a city restaurant. Then continue with a tour to the dazzling Yusupov's Palace, home to St. Petersburg once most wealthy aristocrats. The life and atmosphere of the house will be recreated in a series of short musical performances. In the basement of the house listen to the story about enigmatic monk Grigory Rasputin who was assassinated here by Prince Felix Yusupov.

After the tour you return to the hotel.

Day 12: Visiting the Hermitage, Canal Boat Ride & Russian Army Choral Performance

Following breakfast you meet your guide at the hotel lobby and go to the legendary Hermitage Museum before opening hours to avoid large crowds. The Hermitage Museum houses its unique collection of world art, including the masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, El Greco, Francisco Goya and Thomas Gainsborough in the halls of the Winter Palace.

They say that if you were to spend three minutes by each of the exhibits in the Hermitage, it would have taken you three years to see the entire exhibition. But don't worry - you have an experienced guide, who will show you the best rooms and halls of the exhibit within several hours. Your visit incorporates a unique opportunity: a private visit to see the stunning XVIII century mechanical masterpiece - Peacock Clock - in action.

This day is crowned with a relaxing boat ride along the numerous rivers and canals of St. Petersburg to see the city from a completely new perspective.

You are then in for another treat as you get to enjoy a Russian Army Choral performance.

You then visit an authentic Russian home of a real Russian Professor and his family, taste traditional home cooked Russian food, prepared by the hostess.
