All logistics and details in my time in Russia during the Golden Ring & St. Petersburg tours were awesome!
My first guide picked me up promptly at the address in Moscow. He was a wonderful guide with an incredible depth of knowledge. He drove me to every site and destination in the Golden Ring with confidence and in a timely manner. The local guides were excellent and again a wealth of information. The accommodations were lovely. Each had it's own charm and unique qualities. All were in ideal locations to venture out and explore on my own. I especially loved the 'cottage room' in Suzdal at the Pushkarskaya Sloboda. The fact that it snowed while I was there made it 'extra magical'. The meals and restaurants were all varied and the food delicious.
The guide was great at making sure I was all set at the train station and the overnight train to St. Petersburg worked well. Another unique experience.
I was met by the St. Petersburg guide right as the door opened on the tracks in St. Petersburg. He also was amazing. Yet again, more information and knowledge than seems possible in one person. He didn't just show me all the sites and fill me in on all the historical information and background stories but went out of his way to make sure I was all set up with extra activities in which I was interested after our touring time was complete. The location and quality of service at the Pushka Hotel were perfection. Within steps of the Winter Palace - doesn't get better than that! Again, all meals were delicious in a wonderful variety of venues.
Really, everything went exactly as planned. Fantastically organized and well executed. If there were anything on which I could comment, it would be that the last day of the Golden Ring tour in Yaraslavl was little light on activity. It was a long day since I was leaving quite late in the day for the train but really, after lunch there wasn't anything formal planned. I don't know the area well enough to suggest what else might have been included and we did end up filling the time so again, not a huge issue. It was really the only time that I felt wasn't filled as well as it could have been.
Thanks so much with all your support starting right from the visa process (so easy!) right through to the suggestions for tipping and finally the organization of the entire trip. Well done!
