Ekaterinburg, Russia

Resting in the Ural region, Ekaterinburg is a thriving city where East meets West. Founded in 1723 by Czar Peter I, the city has grown to become an industrial powerhouse as one of the most important cultural and economic cities in Russia.

Together with other Permian towns, Ekaterinburg became a key-city to endless and rich Siberia, “a window overlooking Asia” like Saint-Petersburg was Russia’s “window overlooking Europe”.

Moreover Ekaterinburg is a large junction of seven railway routes. The daily life of the city is provided for by its social infrastructure. Its numerous shops, public catering facilities, trams, trolleybuses, buses, and "metro" render services to its residents and visitors.

From the end of the 19th and the early 20th century, Ekaterinburg was one of the centers of revolutionary movement in the Urals. Today Ekaterinburg is a vibrant city full of towering skyscrapers, breathtaking churches and pristine remnants of the Soviet Union.

Travelers will find beauty instantly upon arriving in the city's main train station. With grand white columns, and a beautiful shade of lime-green, this station represents the divine era of Russia's Imperial past. From the station, the city only gets better.

One of the most important stops for any tourist is the Church of the Blood which was built on the place of the Ipatyev House where former Russian emperor Nicholas II and his family were shot in July 1918. Not only is this church a towering testament to Russia's architecture, it is also a historic site.

For those looking to dive into Russia's culture and history, there are many world-class museums that cater to every taste. For entertainment, the local circus and various ballet and opera theaters are sure to please. Along with these classically Russian elements, there are various houses and monuments that reflect Chinese culture as well.

Overall Ekaterinburg is a perfect representation of Russian culture, and tourists from all over the world can enjoy its numerous sights and features!
